The Unicorn Inn
29 Castle Street, Conwy

Today it is a private residence, but local evidence suggests that this building once housed The Unicorn Inn, one of the many inns that served travellers within Conwy's medieval walls.

From Ale to Accountants
The inn appears in sale catalogues from the late 1880s. The building became known as The Estate Office, reflecting its new commercial role until 1922 where it then became the The Accounting Offices.

Unlike Conwy's famous coaching inns - the Castle, Black Lion, and Eagles - the Unicorn has almost vanished from history. No photographs are yet known, and only a handful of documentary references survive. Yet it once formed part of the lively network of taverns that welcomed merchants, sailors, travellers, and local townspeople inside Conwy's walls.
