This weekend, we attended the medieval banquet at Ruthin Castle. Upon our arrival, we were greeted with a glass of mead and music by The Whipperginnies. As we prepared to take our seats, we were given the titles of Lord of Misrule and Abbess of Disorder, which was a great honour! We sat on thrones and were served first throughout the evening. The food was excellent and plentiful, the entertainment fabulous. I highly recommend the event!
Staying in the castle itself was also a delight. Every time we stay we see improvements. We just booked at a standard room which are the old rooms, but they are huge! Big room, decent bathroom, and robes were also provided.
The next morning, we went for wander through the grounds. I got some photos for a talk I am doing next year on the Edwardian Castles, and also fed some peacocks. They are extremely friendly, if a bit pushy!
I will do another post about the history of the castle.
